Pardon me, Pollen, You’re on My Countertops Again.

Spring has sprung here in Savannah, Georgia. Pollen is a naturally occurring process for our trees and landscape. In Savannah, it usually lasts about eight weeks at the beginning of the Spring when the temperatures start to warm up again. Handling allergies can be a pesky nuisance, especially when the pollen count gets high.  And for many, that means that the pollen count is not only outside, but it has made its way into all the nooks and crannies of your home. And if you have specialty countertops, floors, or fireplaces made of granite, quartz, or marble, you may be wondering how to clean these surfaces and rid them of pollen. It’s important to remember that most natural stone surfaces may not be able to handle harsh cleaners that contain acids. Acids and abrasive cleaners can eat away at the surface, get into the pores of the stone, and cause significant damage. Miracle Stone and Tub Refinishing would like to recommend using Dawn dish detergent, a soft cloth, and warm-to-the-touch water to clean natural stone surfaces. Dawn is well known as a gentle cleaner that can sanitize, clean, and remove debris on many objects and surfaces. Unfortunately, you may have to do this once a day in Savannah until pollen season is over. But your natural stone surfaces will thank you for years to come as you protect one of your best investments, your home.
